Most people know Geraldine Ferraro as the first woman to run for vice president with a major party. But I think of her first as a long term multiple myeloma survivor. She was inspirational for me even before my diagnosis almost four years ago.
I remember watching her ten years ago, cheerfully hooked-up to her IV, receiving chemotherapy. I now know that was Velcade. She was one of the first patients to use it–and it worked very well.
You can find a link to a msnbc.com new story about her death on MyelomaNews.com. That is where I would customarily post a story like this. But Geraldine Ferraro was my hero. I felt I needed to share more.
Feel good and keep smiling! Pat
