Here is a link to an important video, forwarded me by David over at Working With Me.com – News for Blood Cancer Patients and their Caregivers:
Question: Who will build the disease models soon capable of providing the powerful insights to cure patients?
The idea of patients and researchers collaborating to help form a global community is going viral. Solving the challenge of linking cancer research from around the world is our next, best shot at a cure.
By cross referencing data, patterns may emerge which can help scientists find commonalities among a lot of different cancers. For example, the next, big multiple myeloma breakthrough may well be sitting on a leukemia researcher’s desk in Australia or Italy.
Without sharing and cross referencing data, how will we know? For now, the entire process is left to chance–along with the help of some deep-pocketed drug companies who are trying to find additional applications for expensive drugs they have already developed to fight a different disorder.
I’m optimistic our innovative information age will allow scientists to exponentially speed up the research process. It is happening as I write this!
Feel good and keep smiling! Pat
