BOOK REVIEW: Renegade Patient, by Dr. Tedde Rinker

It is becoming more and more difficult to find books about cancer which are relevant and up-to-date, don’t you think?

With that in mind, I am searching for books which may be useful for me and my fellow multiple myeloma patients and caregivers.

I found one!  Renegade Patient, by Dr. Tedde Rinker, published by the small, but up-and-coming BioMed Publishing Group is definitely a worthwhile read.

I liked it so much, I contacted the publisher and have added it to our My Cancer inventory.

How many times have I preached the importance of becoming an informed patient?  How often have I encouraged my readers to become the head coach and general manager of their health care team?

After reading Renegade Patient, I learned that I’m not alone.

Dr. Rinker not only agrees with me, she lays-out a road map for doing just that.

But more importantly, Dr. Rinker provides a number of suggestions for utilizing alternative medicine to help balance your health care team.

With all of the treatment options facing multiple myeloma patients, the suggestions on how to organize and manage information in Renegade Patient, makes it a must read for us all.

In a chapter titled “The Empowered Patient,”  Dr. Rinker clearly illustrates how a “strong, well-reasoned patient can become their own health care advocate.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Feel good and keep smiling!  Pat
