2015 Myeloma Beach Party dates set

Posted on October 27 2014 by Pat Killingsworth | 2,428 views

Last year’s Myeloma Beach Party was a blast!  An amazing afternoon and evening spent together on the waterfront in Tampa.  This year we’ve decided to take things to the next level; an entire weekend of activities March 20th – 22nd on Amelia Island near Jacksonville.

AMELIA SUNRISEFriday evening’s program will focus on ways to help improve our quality of life.  Saturday includes the option of joining a sunrise meditation session on the beach, a beach walk fundraiser to benefit Crowd Care Foundation and/or afternoon and evening programs featuring well known myeloma specialists and celebrity guests.  There will even be a Sunday late morning program and a great brunch.   And yes, free swag bags will be back–bigger and better than ever!

Can’t make it for an entire weekend?  Not to worry!  The party is all about YOU!  Our goal is to keep things fun and casual, while providing useful information for those that are interested.

Registration forms will be available in a few weeks.  We have some great sponsors, but there will be a small, subsidized fee to help cover the cost of meals: $20 per person.  This includes dinner Friday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and Sunday brunch.  It also includes an awesome swag bag, full of goodies donated by several different pharmaceutical companies and local businesses.

And don’t forget about the first annual, Crowd Care Foundation beach walk Saturday morning.  Participation is optional, but walking on the beach for a good cause?  Won’t have to twist my arm!

Programs on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, plus Sunday morning, are all free.  And the friendships and camaraderie?   Priceless.

AMELIA 2A wide range of lodging options will be available, too: from beachfront rooms to something a few blocks off the water for those on a tighter budget.  There are some amazing places to stay here on Amelia Island.  But I felt it’s important to offer affordable options, so most anyone from our online myeloma community can attend: per person costs for Friday and Saturday evening lodging–and all of your meals–will start at less than $200 per person.

Those of you that need to fly can start watching ticket prices.  Jacksonville’s airport (JAX) is a short 30 minutes from the beach.  Rent a car, take a shuttle or volunteers will be available to help get you to and from the airport.

AMELIA 3Over 70 patients, caregivers, friends and family members dropped by the first party.  We’re expecting between 100 and 200 next year.  Watch for more details soon.  Pattie and I hope you can join us in 2015!

Feel good and keep smiling!  Pat

I spent lots of time as a teen at Amelia in its early development stages. Beautiful place! I’m curious, is this David Martin the physiologist/hematologist from Georgia State that worked with Olympic distance runners ? If, so, let’s connect !
