Looks like our highly toxic gamble to try a pair of salvage autologous stem cell transplants worked! I’m at the airport getting ready to board a plane to Atlanta on the way home, so no time to post details…
Still, I quickly wanted to share the good news with so many that have been sympathetic and supportive of my recovery efforts; the last six months haven’t been easy! An understatement, right?
I’m in the process of drafting a post that explains exactly where things stand. Let’s just say I was blown away by my meeting with Dr. Tricot this afternoon. Turns out that the preliminary report I read beforehand wasn’t interpreted by the radiologist correctly. Although there were some obviously good things in there, it implied that there was still some active myeloma hanging around.
What an emotional roller coaster!
For now, I’m on cloud nine. The sun seems to be shining brighter. My nagging C. diff related complications–that make it difficult to travel–don’t seem like such a big deal.
Iowa City, I love you! Just don’t expect me to ever wear anything black and gold.
Got to run; I’ll follow up tomorrow.
Feel good and keep smiling! Pat
